Truth be told, I could have written out 100 Brené Brown quotes and each one would be as important as the last – she is just that powerful a writer. There are certain authors who write books as if they’re written JUST for you. That’s Brené Brown for me. I connect with her work deeply and encourage you to pick up any all of her books. Also, ICYMI, she has a wonderful Netflix special called The Call to Courage that I think EVERYONE should watch.
“It takes courage to say yes to rest and play in a culture where exhaustion is seen as a status symbol.”
“You either walk inside your story and own it or you stand outside your story and hustle for your worthiness.”
“Integrity is choosing courage over comfort; choosing what is right over what is fun, fast or easy; and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them.”
“Authenticity is the practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are.”
“Perfectionism is a twenty-ton shield that we lug around thinking it will protect us, when in fact, it’s the thing that’s really preventing us from taking flight.”
“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
“Compassionate people ask for what they need. They say no when they need to, and when they say yes, they mean it. They’re compassionate because their boundaries keep them out of resentment.”
“Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.”
“Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. Vulnerability is not weakness – it is our greatest measure of courage.”
“Daring to set boundaries is about having the courage to love ourselves even when we risk disappointing others.”
